We are delighted to announce that CIB has been awarded the Middle East's Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility award by Euromoney. This esteemed honor comes to us as a result of our collective investment in corporate and social development.
Our bank strategy is heavily intertwined with core values that serve all stakeholders, from customers, shareholders, employees, and the communities we serve. The report presented to Euromoney highlighted CIB’s commitment to these values, most importantly, how we foster diversity and inclusion, the impact that our operations have on our surrounding environment and community, our people’s professional development and of course, our unmatched ethical business conduct.
On our diversity and inclusion front, we pride ourselves on being the first out of 230 companies in Africa and the Arab world to be included in Bloomberg’s 2019 Gender Equality Index (GEI). We make sure that diversity is spelt across all of our programs and efforts, some examples of which are, providing tailored training leadership programs for women, micro lending to enable prospective businesswomen, ensuring the accessibility of our branches, installing talking ATMs and trained personnel to serve customers with special needs.
As a highly conscious bank, we also pride ourselves on how our resources have been dedicated to managing our ecological footprint since 2014 despite our significant expansion. We have adopted global standards to improve the use of energy and water, reduce carbon footprint and waste management systems.
When sharing our community impact, we poured special focus on the CIB Foundation and its efforts to benefit underprivileged children, with the help of CIB employees who volunteer regularly to benefit patients of all types. Other initiatives include but are not limited to, our support of the Egyptian Advance Society for Autism, our partnership with The Ministry of Social Solidarity and the “AUC Venture Lab Fintech Accelerator”.
Finally, and most importantly, integrity is the primary pillar of the CIB culture, where we utilize best practices, frameworks and whistleblowing policies to emphasize our reputation as a corporate leader on all fronts.
