Cairo, July 1, 2025- CIB, Egypt’s leading private-sector bank, is pleased to announce that YANMU Logistics Park has received the EDGE Advanced certification for its sustainability-led facilities. This significant achievement underscores YANMU’s leadership in sustainable logistics infrastructure in Egypt.

YANMU is the first joint venture between HAU Logistics, Hassan Allam Utilities, A.P. Moller Capital, and Agility, focused on developing advanced logistics parks and Grade A warehouses in Egypt. The Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiency (EDGE) certification is a green building standard and certification system developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector development arm of the World Bank Group. This standard promotes sustainable development by encouraging resource-efficient designs that reduce emissions and operating costs.

To support these sustainability goals, CIB has partnered with the IFC to offer a 2.8% cashback on construction loans for projects that meet EDGE standards. Three warehouses have achieved the advanced EDGE certification, resulting in significant reductions in resource consumption: a 49% decrease in energy use, a 53% decrease in water, and a 59% decrease in embodied carbon. Furthermore, three more warehouses are expected to receive the certification upon completion later this year, further strengthening the park’s green building portfolio. The YANMU Logistics Park has previously secured EGP 1.5 billion in financing from the CIB to establish the YANMU East Logistics Park. This investment has contributed to the development of advanced, environmentally friendly warehouses.

Commenting on the transaction, Mr. Amr El-Ganainy, Deputy CEO & Executive Board Member at CIB, said,At CIB, we believe that sustainability is the foundation for responsible and inclusive economic growth. Our partnership with Hassan Allam Utilities, Agility, and A.P. Moller Capital underlines our commitment to supporting smart and green infrastructure that contributes to the growth of the Egyptian economy.”

Cheick-Oumar Sylla, IFC’s Regional Director for North Africa and the Horn of Africa, stated, “The EDGE Advanced certification of YANMU EAST Logistics Park marks yet another milestone in Egypt’s progress towards more resource-efficient infrastructure. This achievement, made possible through IFC and CIB’s innovative green financing, demonstrates the growing momentum behind sustainable development in Egypt. At IFC, we are committed to supporting Egypt’s green transition by advancing climate-smart solutions across the built environment through the EDGE certification.”
