In association with “Shahr Al-Khier” initiative, under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) distributed 15,000 Ramadan food cartons to underprivileged families in the governorates of Assiut, Luxor and Aswan, in the context of the Bank’s efforts and socially responsible commitment towards community development.
The initiative aimed at supporting the most needy families during the Holy month of Ramadan, was directly targeted high-density areas under the poverty line in the three governorates. While this is only one of the charitable activities that are carried out by CIB staff, what distinguishes it the most was the communal consensus of CIB staff to cancel the annual Iftar event and allocate its budget to the “Shahr Al-Khier” initiative, supporting roughly 60,000 citizens in Luxor, Aswan and Assiut.
It is worth mentioning that the “Shahr Al-Khier” initiative aims at alleviating poverty, especially in remote, disadvantaged areas. It does so through the continuous efforts to develop partnerships between civil society and the private sector, and effectively coordinate all activities and donations among government partners, civil society and private sectors corporations which is directed to the most needy spectrums of citizens across Egypt
