​In an innovative initiative for developing scientific talents of Egyptian youth, Commercial International Bank-Egypt (CIB) sponsors "Your Space" project, which was launched by the well-known Egyptian adventurer Omar Samra, with the objective of encouraging school and university students to explore space sciences, enrich their knowledge and develop their scientific competencies.

The new project aims to grant Egyptian youth the opportunity to broaden their horizons and inspire them to discover the unusual field of space sciences and consider it as their future career choice, noting that this is a non-common area in Egypt and the Arab world. The project represents as well an incentive to educational institutions to stimulate the development of engineering, sciences, technology and mathematics curriculums, in order to create an advanced scientific environment from which new generations of genius calibers will arise.

In this regard, the “Your Space” project provides special contests for schools and universities to attract and encourage students. The school contest revolves around designing a spaceship or a city for humans in another planet. The competition will last until the end of the academic year in order to allow a greater number of students to participate. Winners will get a 3-day scientific trip to a space camp for juniors “Muricata Space Camp”.

At the level of universities, the competition calls for submitting groundbreaking ideas for a scientific experiment to be tested in the space, as Omar Samra is preparing for a space trip with XCOR Aerospace Company in the near future and will then test the winning idea in a non-gravity experiment.

The contribution of CIB-Egypt in “Your Space” project reflects the Bank’s sincere, ongoing support to the talents of Egyptian youth across different fields, including scientific, cultural, sports and art, believing that the young generations are the nucleus of the country’s progress and builders of its prosperous future, and hence they should be given the adequate opportunities to leverage their abilities. Among the Bank’s sponsorships, for example and not limited to, is being the main sponsor of the Egyptian Federation of Squash, Sawy Culture Wheel and the Upper Egypt Salon that is organized annually and held by the Faculty of Fine Arts in Luxor.
