Cairo, February 26, 2025- CIB Foundation, the bank’s non-profit organization, has partnered with ECB, a non-profit organization, that provides clothing and home textiles to underprivileged Egyptian children, families, and youth to distribute 100,000 training suits amongst children in Faiyum, Gharbia, and Kafr El-Shaikh governorates. This campaign is part of the “L’Misr” initiative.
For over a decade, this partnership has provided essential warmth to approximately 700,000 underprivileged children across Egyptian governorates, including Qena, Giza, Beni Suef, Red Sea, Aswan, Marsa Matruh, Minya, New Valley, Cairo, Al-Sharqia, Luxor, North Sinai, Sohag, Assiut, Menofia, Dakahlia, South Sinai, Beheira, and Alexandria. Given that these children endure harsh weather conditions, they develop serious health issues, including pneumonia, severe influenza, and bronchial infections. To respond to this issue, CIB has provided training suits made of healthy cotton, reducing the likelihood of developing diseases caused by inadequate warmth.
Furthermore, studies showed that this initiative has reduced the rate of children suffering from chest diseases by 40% and has raised school attendance by 25%. This demonstrates how the initiative positively contributed to improving their health and education. It is worth mentioning that the training suits are manufactured by females from sustainable materials, underlining the bank’s commitment to empowering women and providing sustainable solutions.
Commenting on the transaction, Mr. Sherif El-Said, CIB Foundation Manager, said, “We are pleased to partner again with ECB, as this partnership underscores our commitment to providing underprivileged children with the warmth they need and deserve. The Warmer Winter initiative aims to protect children from extreme weather conditions, fostering a healthy environment in which they can thrive.”
Dr. Moez El-Shohdi, Chairman of the ECB, emphasized that this campaign serves as a model for effective partnerships between civil society organizations and the private sector, integrating humanitarian aid, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment to create a comprehensive framework for social development.
The signing ceremony took place at the Four Seasons Hotel, Giza, in the presence of Dr. Moez Al-Shohdi, Chairman of the ECB, Mrs. Nadia Hosny, Secretary General of CIB Foundation Board of Trustees, Mr. Sherif El-Said, CIB Foundation Manager, and Ms. Lojayn Hussein, Senior Programs Officer at CIB Foundation.
