Cairo, March 15, 2025- CIB, Egypt’s leading private-sector bank, has successfully upgraded to the latest version of PCI DSS, a set of security standards designed to protect cardholder data. This achievement underscores the bank’s commitment to safeguarding customer data and upholding high-security standards.
CIB has achieved PCI DSS recertification for the 9th consecutive year since 2017. This certification enables the organization to comply with PCI DSS standards to create a secure payment environment. It also enhances data security, increases customer trust, reduces the risk of financial losses, and improves business reputation. As part of the annual PCI DSS certification process, this upgrade demonstrates CIB’s dynamic approach to adapting to emerging security standards.
The recent updates to the PCI DSS compliance requirements included security controls that meet the payment industry’s needs, promoting security as a continuous process, and enhanced validation methods and procedures. Furthermore, the certification embraced new services, such as Apple Pay and card tokenization, ensuring that CIB’s digital payment processes follow the latest security measures.
The certification process was carried out by IGRC SQUARE, a specialized consultancy firm that offers comprehensive governance risk and compliance (GCR) solutions across Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
