Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) continues its sponsorship to the Egyptian Squash Federation to support the union activities and to effectively contribute to sustaining the athletic abilities of Junior players and their capabilities to realize outstanding achievements to be added to the Egyptian squash track record in the international and local sports arenas.
CIB’s sponsorship to the Federation has been ongoing for several years, during which the Bank provided the financial support as well as backing the Federation’s plan to providing the needed requirements and equipment for gifted and talented junior players to develop their skills and support their participation in local, regional and international tournaments and the Olympics, which enhances the opportunities outweigh the Egyptian junior squash players and their achievements of honorable and advanced centers in the world rankings.
The Bank recently sponsored the International Squash Championship for Men and Women that was held in the city of youth and sports in Sharm El-Sheikh, last May. The championship witnessed the participation of 18 countries, including England, India, Kuwait, France, Pakistan, Jordan, Spain, Poland and Egypt.
Karim Abdel Gawad won the Championship title after defeating Ali Farag, while in the women competition, Tesni Evans, who represents Wales, won over Egyptian Heba El-Torky with 3-2 in sets. The Championship prizes were distributed by the Minister of Youth and Sports Eng. Khaled Abdel Aziz, Governor of South Sinai General Khaled Fouda in addition to the attendance of Eng. Assem Khalifa Head of the Egyptian Squash Federation, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Assitant to the Minister of Youth and Sports, the championship’s sponsors and groups of squash fans.
