Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) has been hardening its distinguish leadership in the banking sector and evidencing its unparalleled commitment towards Egypt and the society through series of events to support the country. The latest was CIB's sponsorship of the gala reception and dinner "An Evening in Egypt", which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York and hosted by the Permanent Mission of Egypt to the United Nations. The event, which took place on October 13th, attended by over 500 international dignitaries and senior members of New York's diplomatic community, was held to mark the occasion of Egypt's candidacy to the non-permanent seat at the Security Council for 2016-2017.

In attendance were the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Sameh Shoukry, Egypt's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Amr Aboulatta, in addition to numerous permanent representatives and senior UN secretariat members.  Representing CIB, the sponsor of the evening, were Hisham Ezz Al-Arab, Chairman and Managing Director, Hussien Abaza, Chief Executive Officer of Institutional Banking, and Mohamed Sultan, Chief Operating Officer .

This Egyptian flavored night has been one of the major factors that backed Egypt's win of the Security Council seat, as it splendidly illustrated the role of Egypt throughout the years in the region, pledging its active engagement to help solve the multiple challenges facing Africa, the Arab world and the Eastern Mediterranean region.

The entertainment for the evening included a presentation on ancient Egypt by world-renowned Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass; selections from the musical, Akhenaten, performed by acclaimed Broadway actors; traditional and modern Egyptian musical selections by the Zikrayat Oriental Ensemble; and a rendition of the French horn by celebrated soloist and Professor Amr Selim.
