Backed by CIB-Egypt’s sponsorship, the national junior team was crowned the title of Women’s World Junior Championship, which was held in Eindhoven city, in Netherland, in the period from July 31st to August 4th. The team succeeded to beat the U.S national team in the final and claimed the title of World Team Championship for the fifth consecutive time since 2003.
CIB’s sponsorship of junior Squash players reflects the Bank’s strategy regarding its social responsibility and full commitment towards Egyptian youth, through providing the adequate support and encouragement to strengthening the chances of developing young Egyptian talents, who will be the future leaders of the country.
The national team includes four players; Nouran Gohar, Habiba Mohamed, Mariam Metwally and Salma Hany, who succeeded to grab the attention to their distinctive performance, as they were leading their group that included Canada, Switzerland and South Africa. The team beat the Indian counterpart in the quarter-finals and overcame the Malaysian juniors in the semi-finals.
It’s worth mentioning that CIB’s sponsorship to the Egyptian Squash Federation has been ongoing for several years, during which the Bank has been providing the financial support as well as backing the Federation’s plan to providing the needed requirements and equipment for talented junior players in order to develop their skills and support their participation in local, regional and international tournaments and the Olympics, which enhances the opportunities outweigh the Egyptian junior squash players and their achievements of honorable and advanced ranks in the world rankings.
