CIB recognizes the direct and indirect environmental impacts arising from the its operations and is fully committed to minimizing them when possible, through the promotion of a culture of environmental awareness in all its sphere of influence, particularly among employees, clients and suppliers.

To achieve this goal, the Bank set clear objectives and will publicly report our progress regularly.

CIB’s environmental policy is built on the principles of environmental protection and climate change awareness. Our goal is to create a robust framework that carefully balances our commitment towards the communities in which we operate and the development of our core business.

Main areas of intervention

To achieve the environmental goals set in the policy, CIB identified specific areas of intervention within the organization with selected targets and indicators, when disclosed, will highlight the Bank’s progress:

• Focusing on compliance: complying with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and approved codes of practice.
• Reducing the operational environmental impact: optimizing and reducing the Bank’s impact from energy, water, and paper consumption and waste disposal. As such, it has developed a road map with a phased approach that will first quantify our footprint and then set ambitious reduction targets.
• Promoting environmentally friendly elements: in the development of new products and services.
• Increasing employee’s awareness: raising employee’s awareness through dissemination of information and specific training programs will contribute achieving the Bank’s environmental goals.
• Promoting disclosure and transparency: transparently disclose and convey progress made towards achieving CIB’s environmental goals.
